Beautiful Stone Farmhouse, Private Pool, Idyllic Setting Amongst Vineyards near Sainte-Foy-la-Grande
Orderly rows of vines cover the gentle undulating landscape on the approach to La Levaille, a beautiful stone farmhouse nestled amongst the vineyards between Duras and Ste Foy-la-Grande, an area justifiably renowned for its wines. This lovely backdrop is only enhanced by La Levaille’s established mature garden, filled with a magnificent array of trees and plants, creating a quintessential French retreat which will appeal to all, oenophile or not!
Relaxed, elegant living is the hallmark of French country style and can be found in abundance at La Levaille, imbued with a shot of glamour. High ceilings and dark wood floors are a classic backdrop to the ornate, baroque style bed furniture in the roomy bedrooms. The generous living room is furnished with elegant sofas and contemporary lighting, with exposed stone walls adding character. And finally, the kitchen/dining room has beautiful wood cabinets, an impressive range oven and French doors that lead out to the dining terrace.
Another terrace, which runs along one side of the house, is framed with a wonderful mix of plants and partially covered for respite from the summer sun. From here, the pool can be glimpsed set in its elevated position in the garden whilst close by one of the stone barns in the garden provides a shady spot for table tennis.
Naturally the nearest wine domaine is only a short drive away in Landerrouat (2km) where you can taste the local wines including Côte de Duras. Duras itself is 11km and has an impressive Château worth exploring, as well as a ‘Maison des Vins’. For amenities, head to Ste-Foy-la-Grande (12km), a medieval bastide town with half-timbered buildings, on the banks of the Dordogne. Canoeing on the river is also possible nearby. Golfers will enjoy a game at the Château des Vigiers (27 hole golf course, 19km) whilst those seeking some city life, Bordeaux is within easy reach for a day out.

Nestled amongst the vineyards between Duras and Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, an area justifiably renowned for its wines. Sainte-Foy-la-Grande was founded in 1255 on the banks of the River Dordogne, a sizeable bastide (fortified) town with a good number of amenities, shops and supermarkets to offer. It is in the Gironde region, but is sometimes referred to as the gateway to the Périgord (the historic name for the modern day Dordogne region), making it an ideal base to explore both areas.
